Fake Para-Reality TV Floods the Airwaves

A&E has returned to the land of fake reality TV. After Paranormal State departed from its lineup in 2011, the network washed their hands of paranormal programming. But it seems that they’ve decided to bite from the wormy apple with two new entries: Psychic Tia and American Haunting.

American Haunting comes from the same production company, Go Go Luckey Entertainment, that gave us Paranormal State. The first three episodes are a mash up of the mockumentary style movies Paranormal Activity [all parts] with Paranormal State. Three families are under siege by demons, ghosts, or sheer boredom. So they turn to the production company for help and a fame infusion. Over the next few weeks, we’ll debunk the claims of the families, the production team, and the so-called experts.

Psychic Tia features a New Jersey psychic/witch by the name of Tia Belle who was featured in the fake reality show Real Housewives of New Jersey. Tia’s stolen Theresa Caputo’s act and tries her best but fails at everything.

Not to be outdone the Biography Channel has brought back Ghost Inside My Child the show that is so bad they can’t get anything right about reincarnation. It succeeds in exploiting children whose parents have ulterior motives of pushing fake stories. We’ll be debunking this show as well.

Dave Schrader Inserts Nose & Lips in Places They Don’t Belong

I no longer listen to Mr. Schrader as he has as little credibility due to the fake para-celebs and fake psychics that he endlessly promotes. If a psychic said he had three heads Dave would buy it.

In a letter that he sent me once, he stated that he tries to uncover deceptions in the paranormal field. He gave me an example of such a show he did several years ago, but hasn’t done anything since then. [In the same letter he suggested that if I behave myself he’d let me back on his show as a guest.] Since then if any psychic makes a claim it’s true in his eyes.

Last month on his show Darkness at the Edge of Town, Dave spent 2 hours with such questionable psychics as Chip Coffey, Amy Lynn, and Chris Fleming. He fails to inform listeners of the relationships he has with the three: professional, personal, etc. The bigger they become the more he profits from them. In the following interviews, he pushes their websites and appearances. However, not once does he ever question any of their claims on coming to terms with a sixth sense.

Klinge Brothers Coming to ScareFest – Scaring You Out of Your Money!

We wonder why ScareFest [run by Patti Starr a very good friend to Chip Coffey] a paranormal convention invites the Klinge Brothers. Mid South, considered a more respectable venue, refused to have them. We noticed this press release:

Galenas Murder Bordello Please join the Klinge Brothers as well as Chip Coffey as they debut their new DVD project at this year’s ScareFest in Lexington, KY. We’ll be attending a booth where you can purchase the newly released DVD as well as attend lectures by both the Klinge Brothers and Chip Coffey . Hope to see you there!!!!!

The press release confuses us as Chip Coffey claims all he has to do with this is the investigation of the site and nothing about peddling the documentary.

The Klinge's "caught faking it again" this time with the History of our small mining town. They did not interview one even Historian.. Not only that but they are charging "paranormal" groups $525/12hr. night 10 people... No Murders! No Stafflebacks! No haunting s, that I have ever heard

They are still using the "Ghost Lab" stuff like they still have the show.. It ran for 2009-2011... Short lived fame but are still using the name.. They retired and went back to their regular jobs.. Now they are back at it again.. Poor way to re-start a career with the lie's about our Little historic town.. They are going down like Russell Keeler did..

It looks like "Selena Roane" has jumped ship....

Seems to me that it would be wise for "Chip Coffey" & Michael Wallis (the commentator) to jump ship before their credibility is ruined like "Russell Keeler"...and the Klinge Brothers..

If they chose to go down with the ship... they were warned!

Carolyn, I have received several emails from you and yes, I am aware of your ongoing battle with the folks at the bordello and with others in your lovely little town. I am not in the least bit interested in becoming involved in any squabbles that are taking place in Galena. I do, however, kindly ask that you not post "threats" toward me, such as the closing sentence in your last email: "If they chose to go down with the ship... they were warned!" I'm sure you are a very nice lady and I sincerely do not want to have any difficulties with you. All the best, Chip

NOTE - Chip refers to a threat when there is none. To say going down with the ship is a very common phrase. For example, “if the boss doesn’t change his ways the company won’t make money it will close so he will go down with the ship.” There is no implication of a physical threat.

That charging $525/12 hr. night 10 people on t "Plain Ordinary House".... No Murders! No Stafflebacks! No rumor ever that the house was haunted! Ripping off the "Unsuspecting" public for tourism and money is wrong and you have got to know that.

I suspect that you are a good man and hate to see you get messed up with the Klinge's....

You know that "Brad Klinge" refused to let the Historian's and the true story Author Larry Wood on the film... He did not go to the Historical Soc. to check out anything but went on national television and told bald faced lies.. along with Lisa Martin, Russell Keeler, and Michael Wallis... 50 murders and that it was the "Staffleback" house.. After I had told all of the better the first of May..

The Stafflebacks were convicted of one murder and it was not pre-mediated...

Like I said earlier, I really don't want any involvement in issues that really have nothing to do with me. I know that you are very passionate about Galena and its history. That being said, I do not believe that anyone associated with the "bordello" has any ill will or bad intention toward the town. In fact, I think that in their own way, they are trying to help revitalize the economy. Lots of places have "haunted attractions" and some of them are rife with urban legends and certain historical "inaccuracies." Tourists who visit those areas -- Savannah, GA - Tombstone, AZ - Gettysburg, PA - just to name a few -- add much-needed revenue to local businesses. That's the truth, despite the fact that you disagree with the process. When all is said-and-done...and in the long run...does this sully a town? Undoubtedly not.

I'm almost certain we will never see eye-to-eye on these issues, but I hope that you will consider looking at all sides of the issues.

And since you have offered me words of warning as to whom I associate with, may I also offer YOU a gentle warning to be careful of those with whom you associate yourself.

NOTE: So in Mr. Coffey’s thinking an urban myth isn’t a lie. If it’s not the truth it has to false.

And if a place makes money on a lie that is okay.

Chip The issue's only have to do with you at Galena...and the D.V.D. The D.V.D. is not the "TRUE" history of Galena according to my conversation with Brian Jordon and the Mayor.. I told Brian Jordon that the "wagon" and other parts of the film were not the true story and he said that he was going to do it anyway..

As far as the "LEGEND" part... There were legends on the "Stafflebacks" and plenty of them.

But the house on Front Street was never associated with the Legend of the "Stafflebacks" until Russell Keeler in June of 2010 called Dave and Kathy Alexander of "Kansas Legends" and had them put the picture with the legend...

You mention "Tombstone".....I have heard about the Klinge brothers faking and getting found out in about five minutes..

You don't revitalize the community with "Lie's that make the town look greedy...

Pretty Little Town with Dirty Little Secrets.. Yes, Chip it degrades our town to look cheap, like liers and greedy....

I cannot believe that you would condone telling lie's for money.. That is deceitful and disgraceful...

I said NOTHING about telling lies or condoning it. Please do not "put words in my mouth." I said urban legends abound in certain locales. Do I know the "TRUTH" about what happened in Galena? Nope. Do I care about what happened in Galena? No disrespect meant, but not so much.

I have tried to be nice to you, but honestly, you've become obsessed with this whole issue and those "involved" in it. And you do realize that when you post on numerous website about this issue, you are actually HELPING to promote the bordello, right???

In the long run, very few people -- those involved in the paranormal and tourists -- really gives a s#!t about whether or not the Stafflebacks lived in the house or killed anyone in the house that is now called the bordello. Believe me when I say that Galena's "image" is not being ruined. Quite the contrary in fact.

I will advise you to take care in accusing others of misdeeds. (ie: accusations about the Klinge Brothers faking paranormal evidence, etc.) There are legal ramifications possible when anyone maligns others via slander, libel and defamation. I would hate to see you get into legal battles because of statements made against others.

Once again, I have no interest in debating with you about these issues.

If one Googles the Klinge Brothers or their former show Ghost Lab with such words as fake, fake evidence, and hoax, you’ll find that many others have pointed out issues with their so-called paranormal evidence.

The Leininger Case Conclusion

Where is the proof that any of the events ever took place? We see no video proof the child acted this way. We have no audio proof that James ever said these things.

It’s easy to sit in front of the camera and report such stories. I guess the family and the producers expect us to blindly accept these statements.

One thing to note is that the majority of videos concerning the three kids featured in “Ghost Inside My Child” aren’t actually of the children, but are reenactments of the events.

James’s parents tout that the paintings prove his stories. James states, “When I draw these pictures I don’t know.” Of course, he wouldn’t as the resident artist in that household is Andrea. She’s the one who studied art. She guided her son in the drawing.

They come up with the idea that James is the name of the pilot that died. This is easy to remember, as it’s his current name. Also, James is a very common name for that era. When they locate a James that died, he didn’t fly the right plane. The family claims it was a Corsair, a very common plane for that era in the Pacific conflict. However, this James didn’t fly one. Such details don’t bother Andrea. She says “it doesn’t matter that is our son.”

They locate a living sister to the dead pilot, James Huston. The family talks to his now elderly sister, Anne Barron, on the phone. Later they all meet, claiming that James knows all these things about her and that is all the proof you need to buy the story.

What the viewer is never told is that they had many long talks on the phone with the sister. What information did she tell them that they could share with the son?

Andrea becomes tired of the case and decides it’s time to move on, close the book, and I guess start writing another one to further cash in on the story. There is one last deception to explain away towards the end of the narrative. They state that they decided to go to the place where James Huston was shot down and have a memorial service for him.

But the above is not the truth. They were hired to be on a Japanese TV show to discuss their case and this was all part in the TV program.

Lastly, they say James drew a new picture minus all the violence. We see the drawing and James is older but the style matches the early drawing exactly.

Maybe the moral of the story is that when you’re in tough financial straits and you want to start a business, make up a wild story, turn it into a book and exploit your child.

Oklahoma City Bombing -- the Reincarnate Can’t Get the Story Right

The next case features Beth from Tipp City, Ohio a single mom [a common feature just like it was on Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal]. Beth has three daughters. The youngest, Carson, begins talking about the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, when she is five-years of age. The girl gets the story wrong. She says that the driver of the truck was a nice man who did a bad thing by driving his truck into the Federal Building and it blew up.

The driver of the truck was Timothy McVeigh, who by all the reports we could uncover, was moody and withdrawn. He was at war with the “oppressive Federal Government” due to buying into the many conspiracy theories of the ‘90s. “Nice men” don’t blow up buildings. Timothy McVeigh didn’t drive the truck into the building. He parked the truck in front of building and walked away. A timer set the bomb off.

Two questions we have to ask:

1 If Carson was inside the building, how did she know how the building blew up?

2 Is this not a sign the story is made up? This is a logical assumption that a person would drive a truck into a building and blow it up [often featured in books, TV, film]?

That is all the proof we are given to establish that this child is really a reincarnate, outside of one incident—Carson tells Beth she liked her Oklahoma mom better.

The pair journey to Oklahoma to see the site of the bombing. There aren’t any new details and when the mom said they both cried we see no tears from either of them.

Case 3 ~ “Mom, I’m Falling and My Brains Are on the Sidewalk!

A mom is convinced her child died during the terror attacks on 9/11. Can I get a book deal?

Molly and Rick from Land O’ Lakes, Florida, have an exceptional child by the name of Cade. Grandmother Fae claims that as a baby, he looked at people in an odd fashion. The boy was an early bloomer, walking and talking before the age of three. Cade claims he was killed falling from a high-rise. The family decides it has to be the Twin Towers. They claim airplanes scare Cade, yet he’s interested in them. We see a shot of one he got for Christmas. How does it scare him if he plays with them?

Additionally they claim tall buildings scare him and he doesn’t want to go in them.

Never are we shown the fits and the results of the nightmares he suffers.

Was he force-fed this information?

Over time, he comes up with more information. The family claims it proves he died in the 9/11 terror attacks. What that information is we are never told. Here are some interesting things to point out.

1 Cade claims that as he was falling he could hear things rattle inside him. From what we could uncover from accounts of people who survived long falls, there are no accounts of people hearing their insides rattle.

2 The boy claims that he died as he hit the pavement and could see his brains spread across the sidewalk. There a few issues about this.

A. You die from the shock of such a long fall prior to hitting the pavement.

B. In none of his accounts does he ever mention the hundreds of police, firefighters, EMT’s, and their cars, trucks, etc around the World Trade Center.

3 There is a shot of Cade walking across a bridge between two tall buildings. How could he have a fear of tall buildings and do this? He exhibits no signs of discomfort such as crying or shaking. We only see a young boy walking across the bridge.

The mother claims Cade said he wanted a new name. Yet she fails to reveal what it is.

Another fun fact: Molly goes to the message board run by guess who? Carol Bowman. She’s that past life regression therapist seen in the Leininger episode.

The story wraps up with claims that Cade is having trouble in school and many teachers have complained of his behavior. If you look at the notes, they are all written on the same type of paper and in the same style of writing.

In the end, you have one thing going on: EXPLOITATION.

So far, it’s been shown that the producers have, for a lack of a better word, lied to the viewers. There are too many false claims of reincarnation, being ignorant of the subject, and misleading the viewers.

We’ll take each of the 3 stories as a whole so we don’t further confuse the viewers/readers.

Story 1 “There is no plane crash. This just a liar’s pants on fire”

As we’ve shown at the end of part 2, Bruce and Andrea Leininger have a vested interest in selling their son’s story. It’s probably the story that they sold their son. Of course, the viewer isn’t shown the whole story. This is beginning to sound like Paranormal State and Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal to me.

The segment begins with the couple telling some of the back-story about their life prior to moving to Lafayette, Louisiana. What they didn’t tell the viewer:

Andrea was raised in a suburb of Dallas, Texas and she met Bruce there.

Bruce was from a working class family born in New Jersey, divorced with four [now] grown children. He moved down to Texas and married Andrea. After he got married, he had some “career transitions” and moved to San Francisco where their only child, James, was born. The couple later ended up in Lafayette, Louisiana.

The job that Bruce ends up with is far beneath his training and education.

The site is full of information that someone with a critical eye will be able to start removing any foundation that is legit from the Leiningers’ story.

~ The parents’ biographies. Notice how Andrea excelled in dancing, art and guess what—writing. When you watch the TV program and/or read the book, you’ll see that she is the driving force behind the story. It’s her visit alone to the son’s bedroom that introduces the story. She is the driving force in guiding the tale of the fighter pilot.

~ Andrea is the one that chose to ignore evidence that would question the validity of her son’s claims.

What one can take away from the bio is this:

1 Andrea was used to being in the spotlight due to her career as a dancer.

2 After James’s birth she was out of the spotlight and no longer the center of attention.

3 She became a housewife.

4 She needed something to bring attention to James in order to set herself and family apart from ordinary people.

Keep reading the blog you’ll notice this line:

Sharon Matzinger who is a healer and past life regression therapist. 

It might be a good idea to start building a list of all the bad science, fake science, and new age lies that will be used to sell this family’s fake story.

There is no such thing as past life regression therapist.

There are people who use this title but try to find any state that licenses such therapy or even certifies it. Google the top 10 schools for psychology and look up if any of them offer training in it. Or don’t bother, because it doesn’t exist. Check with the APA [American Psychological Association] and see if they endorse it. They don’t.

Let’s start to debunk the story they share:

~ They live in Lafayette, Louisiana.

~ Shortly after the age of two, James starts to have nightmares. When they begin, the mom rushes into the room to comfort him. This is where the narrative begins.

~ Andrea is a stay-at-home mom during this time. James has an interest in planes. The mom has an interest in writing and drawing. Could she have shaped the story to recapture the spotlight she once was in?

~ The phrase the mom repeats, claiming the son says: “AIRPLANE CRASH! ON FIRE LITTLE MAN CANNOT GET OUT.”

~ That phrase would be easy to teach a child to repeat. Note how we’re never offered any proof that James said this.

~When asked who shot him, he says Japanese.

~ Gives a name of a ship he was on.

~ The family claims that they found photos of the ship online.

But what really came first--the statements or the proof?

The viewer is never told that the child had paid visits to the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas.

Andrea then calls her mom and asks what could be taking place in her family? The mom blurts out “Maybe he is experiencing a past life?” [Two out of the three stories feature moms who state this idea].

This brings in Carol Bowman, a false new age teacher who has written two books claiming that her and her kids have had bouts of past life recollections.

Here is her bio:

Carol Bowman began her research into children's past lives when each of her two children had a spontaneous past-life memory. In her quest to understand what had happened to them, she discovered that very little practical information had been written on the subject. So she wrote her first book, Children's Past Lives, which was published by Bantam Books in 1997, as a practical guide for those encountering past-life memories in children. Her second book, Return from Heaven, on reincarnation within the same family, was published by HarperCollins in 2001. Her books have been translated into more than sixteen foreign languages.

Carol has made extensive appearances on TV and radio, been featured in newspapers and magazines, and cited in numerous books on reincarnation. Her national TV appearances include The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, Unsolved Mysteries, ABC Primetime, and several documentaries on A&E and Discovery Channel.

Carol has an M.S. in counseling from Villanova University and has been practicing past-life oriented counseling with adults and children for the past sixteen years.

She has books to offer, TV appearances to tout, and claims to do past life counseling, saying she gives advice on such matters. Where does she get her training to do this?

Not only do her kids recall a past life but also they do it at the same time! Amazing!

Issue 108 – “Ghost Inside My Child” Dark Deceptions [Part 2]

Issue 107-Is "Ghost Inside My Child" Filled with Lies? Part 1

Last week we showed the basics behind the deceptions of the Bio show, Ghost Inside My Child. Now we begin to shred the claims made on the show about reincarnation/past life recollection.

In many ways I’m in a good position to debunk this show as in the 1980’s I was involved in the new age movement. Though no longer a believer in the mishmash of teachings that comprise the new age, I can still hold my own against the best of them. I have studied Hinduism and Buddhism. As for the paranormal, been there and done it. I have a degree in psychology. I am a Christian who has performed numerous deliverances and exorcisms. My experiences will play a part of the dismantling of this show as it’s potentially harmful to the mental health and spiritual welfare of viewers.

In issue 107, I pointed out that ghosts don’t play a part of the reincarnation process. Apparently, the production team has no idea of what they are talking when it comes to this subject.

The show begins with this false claim:

“These reincarnation stories feature children with violent memories of death and destruction.”

The only thing correct in the above sentence is that these aren’t cases but stories. None of these have ever been proven to be true. What they failed to tell you is that one family that was featured has published a book on the case and been on TV many times. They family never turns down a chance to be on TV. A well-known therapist seen in this episode has made a living telling parents their kids are reincarnates.

This is same pattern of deceptions we found in Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal.

~ Parents seeking fame through their child. If they can make some money on at the same time, that’s even better.

~ Fake psychics and delusional therapists seeking to be famous.

~ Cases claiming to be true and being false.

If these cases were true as in fixed reincarnation, [the same person’s spirit is born repeatedly]. These would not be “memories” but things that the spirit/essence inside the child that that person experienced in fixed reincarnation. The person remains the same inside the only thing that changes is the outside:  male, female, big, small, white, black, brown, or yellow. Therefore, the parents might call the child Bob but inside he is really Sue or Jack respectively.

So in just a few seconds we learn:

~ They are hiding facts from the viewers that, if known, would affect how you look at the case.

~ Parents seeking to exploit their child.

~ They don’t know what they are talking about.

Whenever these “facts” pop up through the show, they are generally false, as you will see.

“Paranormal experts believe past life memories are the most vivid in kids between the ages of 2 and 9.”

That logic is flawed.

~ The assumption is that past life memories are real, and that reincarnation is real. Neither are proven to be true by science, so both are matter of faith.

~ Who are these experts? What scientific methods are used to determine this to be true?

~ At this stage of life, children are developing their memory system within the brain. Neurons are forming paths, memory centers are growing. The lobes of the brain are starting to work at their peaks. Others have not yet fully grown. How can the brain pull out such things?

~ The brain can pick up bits and pieces and string a story together.

~ Ambitious parents can feed information to a child often enough that a child can start to repeat as fact.

The next so-called fact:

“Paranormal experts believe problems are linked to past life trauma.”

This is an easy one to disassemble.

~ Who are these experts?

~ Using their logic, if you have a phobia, [and who doesn’t have a mild case of one in their life?] Does that means we all have to be reincarnated?

~ How was this even proven?

Nice try to slip a lie in as the truth.

Another so-called fact:

“Paranormal experts think that most reincarnation cases end in violent death.”

Is it just me but do these so-called paranormal experts have many lies to tell you? Since they’re getting facts wrong and/or making “facts” up, maybe they should be referred to as paranormal amateurs?

How is this proven? Well, we know that violent deaths make much more interesting shows/stories than non-violent deaths, such as someone passing away in their sleep.

In life, you have only two ways to die: violently and non-violently.

Next bogus “fact”:

“Paranormal researchers have documented thousands of reincarnation cases.”

There is a big difference between documenting [simply gathering information] and proving something is true.

Unfortunately, the public blindly accepts such claims, as they want/need to think that reincarnation is real. It allows them to take part in bad behavior. They can say, for example, “I can sin now and make up for it later.” It puts off having to face a God who will pass judgment on you. However, for those who do believe in reincarnation/rebirth, they understand that their actions have consequences.

Therefore, now all of these facts have been debunked let’s move onto looking into these three so-called cases/stories. We’ll look at them in the order they are presented.

Case #1. We meet Bruce and Andrea Leininger from Lafayette, Louisiana. They claim that their only son, James, was a WWII fighter pilot who was shot down and killed over the Pacific Ocean.

The Leiningers’ have made every effort to cash in on this story.

~ For the past few years they have appeared on both network and local TV talking about this case. Of course, viewers of Ghost Inside My Child are never informed of this.

~ The Leiningers’ published a book on this matter back in 2009.

So much for the family moving on from the subject. Again, the viewer is never told of this.

~ They took their child to see Carol Bowman, a “past life regression therapist” that has made a career in selling parents on the fakery of reincarnation. She is even billed on her website as a “reincarnation expert.” Is the viewer ever informed about this? No.
