The Clarity of the Word of God

Continued from The Necessity of Scripture

Last time we began a series on the attributes of the Word of God, and their ramifications for the paranormal. The necessity of the Word of God, the clarity, sufficiency, and comprehensiveness--all these speak of why scripture is important for us, and the ways it is to have preeminence in our lives. The purpose of this newsletter is to analyze, from a biblical perspective, what is happening in the paranormal community in general, and the notion of ghosts in particular. So, what we have to say about the clarity of the written Word, will be applied to these issues. If you did not read the last one on the necessity of the Word of God, it would be useful if you did, but this should stand on its own.

Why has there been a nuclear explosion in the number of people who have come to believe in ghosts in the last fifteen years? That can be accurately answered in a number of different ways, but for our purposes, folks attitude towards the bible is a huge factor.Last time we looked at the necessity of the written Word of God, and asking the above question brings us to a brief review of what we have already said, as well as sharpening our current application focus.

The bible is the ultimate presupposition for Christians in every area of life--including our reasoning, knowledge acquisition, and interpretation of God's world...this is merely the outworking of the Lordship of Christ in the area of human thought--it applies the the doctrine of scriptural infallibility to the realm of knowing. Human knowledge is servant knowledge (or primary vs. derivative).That is, in seeking to know anything, our first concern is to discover what our Lord thinks about it and to agree with His judgment, to think His thoughts after Him (seeing EVERYTHING through God's eyes!). There are no "neutral" facts because God's pre-interpretation of the facts logically precedes the existence of all facts. Hence, we must align our interpretation of paranormal phenomena with our Lord's infallible interpretation of the same. Put another way, we are obligated to re-interpret accurately what our Lord has already interpreted. Can any Christian seriously suggest otherwise? We shouldn't, but we do--remember what we said about autonomous thinking? Talk about foolish-- how could anyone imagine that contradicting the Master of the universe would be a wise decision? All sin, whether Adam and Eve's or ours today, is a result of sinful, autonomous thinking.

How does this apply to our paranormal focus, and our question? Just this, it is the seeking of knowledge about part of God's creation (the spirit realm), without being subject to God's revelation, that has been the primary cause for the explosion of belief in ghosts. How else can you explain the belief in, or "knowledge" of, something that does not exist? In fact, it would be wrong to speak of "knowledge of ghosts" because the category or class known as "trapped spirits" is the null set...it does not correspond to reality. Put another way, with the marginalizing of the God of the Bible, and the bible of God, in our culture, then intellectual autonomy is the inevitable result...as well as incurring God's wrath (Psalm 2; Rom.1). Folks sinfully prefer their reasoning, their intuition, their years of experience, their perceptions, and their interpretation of the paranormal facts over God Almighty's interpretation of the same facts. This is blatant intellectual arrogance."The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

Those in the paranormal community, Christians and otherwise, have spent all their academic training in an environment which disassociates the facts of creation from their Creator--by jettisoning from the classroom His authoritative interpretation of His cosmos (the bible). So, when faced with the facts of the paranormal (and the very real experiences which have become pandemic), the paranormal community does what they have been taught--disassociate the paranormal facts of creation from their Creator. We are not re-interpreting these facts in servant/creaturely submission to God's own authoritative interpretation of these realities. Consequently, they are creating their own fantasy land.

At this point we can now turn our attention to the clarity of the Word of God. The perspicuity or clarity of the bible is how evangelical/Reformed theologians have spoken about one of the attributes of the bible...indeed that is what the written Word of God affirms about itself. Scripture ( as in Deut. 8:3; Pss. 19:7; 119; Matt. 4:4) says that God's written Word is for everybody to understand and live by. The Westminster Confession of Faith speaks of how some doctrines are clearer than others. For example, what is necessary for salvation is very clear. However, it would be a mistake to say that even a single word in the bible does not, in some sense, speak of salvation in a broader sense--every inch of the bible enriches our understanding of the cosmic sweep of the drama of redemption. Nevertheless, that which is required for a credible profession of faith is quite simple (but profound)...and is very clear.

God is THE Great Communicator...He is fully in control of His communication to human beings. When He communicates with us the Lord always does so successfully (human rejection of His successful communication is a commentary regarding mankind's sinfulness...not His Word) But another name for successful communication is clarity. Since God's word is clear, it will always accomplish its purpose (Isa. 55:10-11)--it won't come back void. If a person rejects that Word, then it has still accomplished it's work--much like Jesus perfectly accomplished His Father's work, even though more people rejected the Incarnate Word than accepted Him.

As I point out in Seeing Ghosts through God's Eyes,the notion of ghosts touches on several crucial biblical themes--what happens to us when we die? And what is our hope? And others...many others! Certainly the two I mentioned are so significant that we would rightly assume that the Great Communicator would communicate ultra clearly regarding these, and He does! I am aware that there are those who disagree--saying the bible is not clear regarding what happens to us after death--butdo you see what that implies about God's communication skills? Fear of death is the most universal fear of humans...is it any wonder that hope (certain faith applied to the future) is a central Resurrection motif? The perceived un-clarity is inexcusable and sinful--yes, misinterpreting the Word of God is a sin.

When we consider the clarity of the bible in relation to the Lordship of Christ, it creates ethical obligation in its hearers: obligation to believe what it says, to do what it commands, and so on. To quote Frame, "The clarity of God's Word means that we have no excuse for failing to meet it obligations. To say that God's Word is clear is to say that we have no excuse for misunderstanding or disobeying it. So the clarity of Scripture has ethical implications." (pg 206...The Doctrine of the Word of God)

Again, how does all this relate to the notion of trapped spirits? Since it is inextricably tied to the central biblical doctrines of hope, the afterlife, and the Person and Work of Christ...to name but a few, then one would expect that the Word of God will be ultra clear. It is...very clear! Clear enough to create an ethical obligation to reject this demonic fabrication. Clear enough to make it sinful to believe in the notion of ghosts. Clear enough that there is no excuse for misunderstanding the bible's teaching regarding the matter. Clear enough that there is no excuse for believing in or attempting to speak to demons mimicking humans. And it is certainly clear enough that we do not need to hear a supplemental word from the "other side of the veil" to clarify what happens after death...implying that God's Word is unclear and defective. God, in His written Word, has clearly told us what happens when we die. If we are in union with Jesus, then we will see Him, with glorious clarity, face-to-face!

(The biblical texts are so extensive, and clear, regarding the afterlife, and related themes, it would be a monumental task to amass them--all biblical doctrines are inter-related.)

Residual Haunts and Energy

Continued from Residual Haunts & the Laws of Thermodynamics

This is the second in a series on the theory of residual haunts. We noted that  this theory allegedly explains the majority of true paranormal activity, and that alone is sufficient to call this a crucial issue. What I find odd is that, I cannot find any serious self-reflection or analysis of this theory--it is simply presupposed to be true. Personally, it takes considerable serious analysis of a theory before I can find "cognitive rest" regarding it. The fact that residual haunts is considered to be so common is reason enough to warrant sustained scrutiny. In addition, many Christians who are adamantly opposed to the notion of trapped intelligent spirits, DO believe in the residual phenomenon. My thesis is that these alleged residual haunts are not only intelligent, but they are demonic

Energy is energy is energy regardless of its outward form. We noted that energy is part of God's good creation, and it must "behave" according to the invisible scientific laws the Lord has interwoven throughout reality. One such law of God is the Second Law of Thermodynamics.(please see last week's blog for discussion of this phenomenon) Put succinctly, whenever energy is released into the environment, then this absolute law dictates that the released energy cluster will immediately begin to break apart and separate--entropy occurs until the energy has dispersed enough to reach equilibrium.Hence (and this is key) it is impossible for prison walls to retain within them an energy cluster. Once that convict was slain in a violent fashion, whatever energy that was released by that violent event will immediately begin to disperse in all directions. It CANNOT remain trapped in an inanimate object--to do so would be a blatant contradiction or violation of an absolute law of science (this is usually referred to as a miracle).

On The Haunted Collector tonight John Zaffis commented as he pointed to two stuffed fish, "Even though these fish have been through the taxidermy process, they still may retain some energy from when they were alive." I respect Mr Zaffis, but that is nonsense. During our lifetime, our perception of the very nature of reality has changed drastically--energy is king! But how many folks heard that comment on TV and it cemented in their minds the unscientific notion of a residual haunt? A worldview which has an infinite/personal God as primary reality, has given way to a worldview in which today most folks--perhaps unconsciously--see energy displacing God as prime reality. We need to recognize this shift in presuppositions regarding the nature of reality because it is this non-biblical worldview which gave rise to this notion and is causing it to grow like kudzu. To sum up this review, all energy is subject to the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Since I first introduced this objection in Seeing Ghosts through God's Eyes, nobody has offered a serious rebuttal.

There is a problem that plagues virtually all investigative groups that operate autonomously (self-guided, and not bible/God guided).--and that is the arbitrary nature of determining if the paranormal activity is residual or intelligent. What are the criteria one should look for to make this very significant determination? When you have been in an active location, what indicators do you look for to make this decision? Is a single EVP which appears to be non-intelligent? May I suggest that we be ruthlessly honest with ourselves here because our advice to the client is directly affected, and hence their welfare.. Again, how folks determine if a haunting is residual is usually based on woefully insufficient evidence..Determining if activity is intelligent is not as simple as many seem to think.

With the peer agreement within the paranormal community, it is not uncommon for folks to assume--even before arrival--that the odds are high that whatever activity there will likely be residual in nature. With this tacit assumption, we would be naive to assume that it is not affecting our judgment, and even how we :see: the data..

"I know it is residual if it is non-intelligent." But again, the 64,000 dollar question is:how do you determine if the entity is intelligent? Residual activity allegedly can do virtually anything an intelligent spirit can--cause smells, touch you, appear, make wide variety of sounds--even move and change forms right before your eyes.

1. What quantity of evidence is needed to be sufficient? One weird EVP... or three ...or just enough until you FEEL that you got it right?

2. Is it not true that many come to snap decisions because you believe you can intuit intelligence in a spirit or activity?

3. Has anyone ever ignored you? Of course....well, then why do we come to the conclusion the activity is residual due to lack of verbal response?

4. Do we not automatically assume some activity is residual (e.g. Footsteps), when we  also hear footsteps in undeniably intelligent haunts? How does one discern an intelligent footstep?

5. Do you have a thought through, consistent criteria or is it more of arbitrary and subjective in nature?

6. Assuming for arguments sake that ghosts exist, could they not play around and intentionally try to throw you off?

7. The criteria varies from group to group. It is often assumed that battlefields will be full of residual activity.. However, tonight on Deep South Paranormal, it was manifestly clear to them, and the audience, that all of these entities on this Civil War battlefield were very much intelligent. Who is right  regarding battlefields?

8. It is generally agreed in the paranormal community that demons are rare (which of course is wrong) but it is also generally believed that demons are deceptive and that they can appear in any any form they wish--or mimic any activity of alleged trapped spirits. Is it not conceivable then, that they could intentionally attempt to appear to be non-intelligent--to deceive us and lure all involved into false sense of security.? Once you admit the existence of any demons, then you are faced with a huge problem...demons can mimic everything alleged residuals do. How can you be certain it is residual and not demonic? Remember that demons can make the room feel like it is full of light and love--discernment is a spiritual gift which is usually given to one at conversion. Out autonomous reason and intuition is no match for demonic deception...it is naive to think otherwise..

The bible is God's personal communication to us, and as His creatures we are to interpret His reality by humbly bowing before scriptures authority. It is autonomous (self guided instead of God-guided) reason that has created this unbiblical, non-real notion of a residual haunt. Further, can we not see by common sense how attractive it would be for Satan to deceive us by convincing us that the infesting demons are nothing but residual energy, which the client need not worry about? He knows that once deemed residual then invading spirits will be left alone. I shudder to think of the many thousands who have been informed that they have nothing to worry about because it was determined that it was nothing but trapped energy..Surely for the clients sake we should be willing to re-think our views of residual haunt.

It seems that Satan often alters or augments his strategy based on his observations of the current "lay of the land.” That is, Satan is a brilliant military strategist, and with the growing popularity of the notion of residual energy, he was only happy to oblige by assigning more of his subordinates to deceive us by "playacting" as non-intelligent. If humans can perform battlefield re-enactments, then it would be a snap for him (and demons) to play-act by intentionally appearing to be non-interactive. I have found that demons ability to deceive is as wide and diverse as their cruel creativity can conceive.


On a personal note, I have never encountered paranormal activity which did not respond to biblical provocation in some intelligent fashion. If it were merely residual energy, then it would not respond to such provocation. This is where my thesis is empirically verifiable--wherever there is genuine supernatural activity which is thought to be residual, the sustained and sincere biblical command to leave in Jesus name will eventually get rid of it.

Fully Energized

IN THE BEGINNING, GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH. (Gen.1:1)         

 IN THE BEGINNING, ENERGY EVOLVED INTO THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH…

                                    

 Our country has become fully energized…our mascot is now the Energizer Bunny, but the shades he wears are to cover his coal black eyes. Like the BEK phenomenon (black eyed kid), there is definitely a demonic thing going on. The two phrases above capture in essence the worldview shift that has occurred in our country. From the outset our country was founded on the notion that there is a Creator God—who gave us inalienable rights. Until about 80 years ago, there was a Christian consensus in our country—a biblical worldview was presupposed (often unconsciously), and at the heart of any worldview is the nature of God or ultimate reality. It was simply understood that a Creator God made the world and He is distinct from it. However, in the 1960’s, an eastern monistic worldview (all is one) began to gestate…after 30 years this monistic worldview was given birth in the 1990’s. While the term New Age may be passe’, the reality it pointed to is not. The prevailing worldview today is that Energy is ultimate reality. Someone wisely suggested that I write on examples of this worldview shift. We shall see how this new notion of ultimate reality has radically altered the spiritual landscape and made plausible a whole host of beliefs which were once unthinkable within a biblical worldview. It has trickled down from academia into mainstream, which is how ideas usually get changed.

BOOKS…The self-help books (still very much alive and kicking) have given way to a new genre known as self-empowerment—the topics are frequently the same as before, but with a focus on tapping into the energy source to attain this goal. Whereas a book may have been entitled 10 Steps to a Strong Self-Image, now it may be called Empowering Your Self Image. Of course, the divine within is not the Holy Spirit but the strand of cosmic energy that allegedly undulates through the entire cosmos. We made reference to the Energizer Bunny---keeps going, going, going…It is pretty electrifying and tantalizing to realize that we already have all it takes to live a completely fulfilled, successful, and integrated life by simply recognizing the inexhaustible resources at our disposal, which keep going-- you have infinite Energy at your disposal! Behold, Energy stands at the door and knocks….Reading books changes one’s worldview, and that is precisely what is occurring.

Please note this: Energy may be referred to in different ways: cosmic consciousness, Christ consciousness, universal awareness, cosmic spirit and so on. The danger of these books is twofold: the obliteration of the Creator/creature distinction—a monist worldview; and the inevitable invitation for you to merge with this Energy by tapping into it. Lurking and leering behind this worldview shift is the Prince of darkness and his minions, who are quite happy to empower you in an extraordinary way for a time, only to sink their claws deep within your psyche—and leading you away from the biblical Jesus/gospel. The autonomous self-help books are bad enough, but actively seeking to be empowered by what is in reality a demonic entity is a horse of a different color.  Demons are lawless and perverse—seeking the minimum it would take to have “permission” to creatively be invited to be a resident guest. Seeking a power source other than the Holy Spirit is taken as an engraved invitation by unclean spirits.

Reincarnation—I only mention this in passing here, but it is a logical extension of a monistic worldview, and is becoming increasingly popular here. In his best-selling books Conversations with God, Neale D Walsch said that god told him this was his 247^threincarnation. The monistic worldview is what gave rise to the notion of reincarnation, and reincarnation gave rise to many modern techniques, such as past life regression. What troubles me is that during these sessions, WHO is revealing to this client their identities in the past? I saw on TV the other day a sliver of a show that featured an obese man, who had finally (after all else failed) found victory after tapping into the energy of a former self who had been a warrior centuries ago. This was discovered via past life-regression, and he adopted this warrior persona, which motivated him to lose weight and get in fighting shape. If he was NOT anyone else in the past, then who or what was he seeing during the regression? From my work with individuals who are under demonic attack, it is manifestly evident that unclean spirits may access our dream states. In the bible we see holy angels doing the same (eg both Josephs). It has become apparent that certain brain states make one more receptive to demonic influence. Past-life regression is merely one of many expressions of this worldview with Energy as ultimate reality…and tied into reincarnation.

Spiritism or the belief in ghosts or trapped spirits makes perfect sense within this Energy-centric worldview…all the ingredients were there (mainly a truncated worldview) for this to take off like a rocket. Since earthbound spirits are allegedly comprised of energy, then the notion of ghosts fits had-in-glove with this energy as ultimate reality worldview. All of the ghost-hunting equipment—EMF detector, Mel Meter, full-spectrum and thermal recorders and so on—are designed to detect energy emissions. Language in the supernatural community has jettisoned evil and good, and speaks of spirits that are negative or positive energy…as if they were batteries and not humans. While trapped spirits may be at home in this false worldview, they 100 percent implausible in a biblical worldview—they are antithetical to it. The flow of recent history bears this out; it was not until after this Energy worldview had 30 years to trickle down to the mainstream that the notion of ghosts exploded overnight. That is why it is so important that we learn to think worldviewishly (which I teach in my book Seeing Ghosts through God’s Eyes)

HEALING—whether spiritual, physical, or emotional, it has become a common theme of this Energy--centric worldview to focus on healing. Acupuncture, Reiki…any method that seeks energy transfer from this cosmic energy to heal. As we noted last time, often there is dramatic healing—at a very high cost. There are simply too many to mention here.

Achievement. There are techniques designed to tap into this Energy in order to help you attain or achieve your desire, dream, or goals. Meditation, monistic style, has become perhaps the most common means of overcoming limitations and manifesting one’s dreams. Quantum jumping caught my eye awhile back. The belief is that, by meditative techniques one can visit your doppelganger in any of the infinite universes there are. Burt Goldman, the guru of all this, relies heavily on recent advances in physics which state that there exists an infinite number of universes. Shining bright with a veneer of scientific support, he makes the most extraordinary claims. We can go to whatever universe in which there is a me that excels at the thing we desire. Once we find this doppelganger, we then tap into their unique energy vibrations and sort of siphon some off. There is an actual conversation in which we express desire to merge with them. This is a horrible scenario for possession—which usually requires an invitation for a being outside of us to enter. We mistakenly think that it needs to be a conscious invitation to that which is demonic, but that is not the case.  Astral travel is similar in some respects.. So, what is happening and what are they seeing? Demons have the ability to project vivid, full-color movies into our minds which play out our fantasizes. Energy is at the heart of it all. 

THE AFTERLIFE--many of these beliefs and methods have ramifications in many areas, and not just one, so it was hard to categorize them. However, I think most would agree that the afterlife is perhaps the most important issue at stake, simply due to its eternal nature. The bible unequivocally teaches that physical death is determinative of eternal destiny—heaven or hell, depending upon our response to the gospel of Christ.

This is where the true evil of an Energy-centric worldview is most manifest. Remember, within this system there is no Creator/creature distinction—hence, there is NO place for a holy judge or an eternal judgment. The Day of Judgment has been replaced by energy returning to Energy (as in classical monism) or our pure energy selves continue on here, there, or somewhere…forever. Yes, we have become fully and eternally energized…or so we have deluded ourselves. 

Need to know it emerged out of a context…and unless we see that, then we won’t have a proper understanding of it nor will we be able to effectively persuade others of is falsity. My approach to issues has always been a presuppositional analysis—if we leave this out of the discussion then there is little hope of connecting on any deep level. Have you ever had the sense that you were talking past each other when in dialogue? As it stands now, with the prevailing worldview (which is unconscious in most people), the notion of ghosts makes perfect sense. I watch over and over and over again how the death of “so and so” has led to a haunting”.

ParaNorman: A Wide Awake Nightmare

August 17^th . . . world premiere of the children’s movie ParaNorman

There is real evil in this world, and it lurks in the most innocent looking places—searching for someone to devour . . . such is the case with the soon to premier kids movie ParaNorman . I love children’s movies, but there is something distinctly different about this particular movie. It exposes and encourages children to embrace supernatural evil. How so? By having a hero who can see and talk to the souls of dead people – ghosts. Parents, you must awaken to the reality that Casper is not friendly, as we were led to believe in our childhoods.  It is past time to grasp that these alleged ghosts are pure evil; demons mimicking humans in order to deceive us.

Norman is a misunderstood boy who has the ability to see and talk to ghosts. One day, because of his unusual gift, he is called on to save his hometown from a witches curse; he liberates the town from evil zombies and, of course, moronic adults. Norman is the conquering hero, thanks to his ability to converse with earthbound spirits. It’s a 3-D movie, which is visually gripping even from the short trailer I’ve seen.

Three years ago I became alarmed at the sheer number of ghost related shows on TV. I discovered that in the last fifteen years the notion of ghosts has exploded in growth; growing from a few lunatic fringe groups to at least one-third of today’s population embracing it – the power TV and movies have in effecting radical change is evident. I also discovered there were very significant issues at stake in the debate as to their (ghosts) identity. The reason I wrote Seeing Ghosts through God’s Eyes – using science, logic, and a biblical worldview – was to show, beyond a reasonable doubt, the identity of these entities which are very real. With all our sophisticated technology we are intentionally encountering a realm which science is impotent to accurately identify. It can only describe it . . . not label it. I have discovered there are only two options: they are in fact trapped human souls, or we are being deceived on an enormous scale by demonic entities. The various layers of evidence prove they are the latter – deceiving spirits which are pure evil. That would make the notion of ghosts one of Satan’s most successful global deceptions and make ParaNorman a spiritually dangerous movie.

So, what does that tell us about the movie ParaNorman? Just this – our precious children are being exposed to a worldview that glorifies supernatural evil, which makes a parent’s worst nightmare about natural evil seem tame in comparison. If ghosts are really demons (science, common sense, logic, and the Bible bears this out), then the hero (Norman) is really an anti-hero in the worst sense. In Deut.18 we are forbidden to attempt to speak to the dead, because they are really demons deceiving us by appearing as deceased humans. These evil spirits can mimic and morph into any shape they wish (the angel of light principle in 2 Cor. 11:14 is proof).  Throughout the Bible the paranormal realm is described as forbidden territory to humans, because it is the God-ordained abode of the demonic and Satan. Hence, common sense would dictate that what Norman does is unspeakably dangerous.

Think about this for a moment: what is the qualitative difference between the known dangers of playing with an Ouija Board, what ghost hunters do, or Norman calling out to alleged spirits of the dead? None . . . and that is my main concern. “Are there any spirits in our midst?” is the question that all three have in common. Most people are awakening to the dangers of plunging into the spirit world with the Ouija Board, so why is Norman’s behavior not recognized as just as dangerous? Just because he can see the spirits, as some people really can, does not diminish the danger of his being deceived. Demons will take whatever form or shape which advances their infernal agenda. A salient aspect of our souls is their invisibility, so how could a person’s soul suddenly appear to us after death? Especially in ways that frighten us – is God going to let that happen? Not the God of the Bible! Besides, the Bible is emphatic that death is determinative of eternal destiny. In a biblical worldview it is impossible to believe in trapped spirits . . . it shows how biblically ignorant we are as a nation.

We are exposing our kids to something we ourselves are exceedingly naïve to. There is a pandemic of paranormal-mania and few are aware of the fact that basic ghost theory is intellectually bankrupt. Worse, believing in and speaking to alleged ghosts is an express ticket to demonic oppression. As proof of this, the vast majority of paranormal investigators eventually bring a paranormal “friend” home with them. Daily I deal with this little known reality.

Between the things we see and the things we fear, there are doors . . . once they are opened, nightmares become reality. Speaking with ghosts is like boarding an express train direct to demonic oppression – or worse. I have seen this happen countless times and I am fed up with the church and the media’s dismissiveness of it. This movie will be directly, or indirectly, responsible for the opening of countless “doors” for the demonic to enter through – and the ruination of our children. If ghosts are demons then this conclusion is not an exaggeration. There are a few specific dangers to be aware of.

Watching this movie will result in the following problems. First, the number of children who have nightmares (literally) will increase. If this occurs then pray for protection before they fall asleep. Second, many children will begin seeing something that is not of this world. The anecdotal evidence overwhelmingly suggests that children are much more sensitive to the paranormal realm. I am terrified to think of what our spiritually sensitive and impressionable children are going to experience. If they see red eyes staring at them from their closets at night, DO NOT dismiss it – your child is in serious danger (see below for how to seek help). Because they are children, they may see things you are unable to. We are throwing our kids to the worst wolves imaginable – the demonic. They hate all humans, including children. I am NOT saying all the kids will leave the theatre possessed, but many millions will have their minds and worldviews affected. (What God is like, is He in control? What is the after-life like? Are but a few basic assumptions that are taught).

When they leave will you be able to answer their question: “Mommy/daddy what is a ghost? Are they real? Will I become a ghost when I die?” Will you be prepared to give them a well-thought-through answer? My mom used to always say when a situation was questionable, “Better safe than sorry.” Please, be safe, rather than sorry . . . do not let your children see ParaNorman, unless you wish your life to possibly turn into a wide-awake nightmare. Jesus Christ conquered sin, Satan, and the grave and our hope of entering heaven upon death is absolutely certain if we are in Christ . . . if not, then all eternity will be a wide-awake nightmare. Flee from ParaNorman  into the loving and gentle arms of Jesus.
