The Myth that Satan and Evil Do Not Exist

By Lisa Grace

All historians, whether Christian or atheist, agree that Yeshua (Jesus) existed. Not only does the Roman arrest record still exist where it mentions He was executed for the crime of witchcraft (source: mentioned in From Jesus to Christ by Paula Fredrickson), but numerous ancient historians like Titus Flavius Josephus, mention Him. http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/45841

Many scientific minds believe in string theory, and different dimensions which would lead to life. Many espouse that there might be an alternate version of themselves somewhere in one of these universes/dimensions. So why do these same people find it so hard to believe that evil angels/demons exist? Beings made of light?

Evil angels' sole purpose is to lead people away from the gift of salvation. That's it. What better way to lead modern man away from the truth than to allow him to think he is at the top of the brain chain? Let him believe there is nothing smarter or more intuitive out there?

That's exactly the method they use for unbelievers.

For those that seek them out, they use two different forms of deception:

1) Lying about the nature of the afterlife

a. People returning as ghosts (myth)
b. Everyone is happy and consciously aware, on a better more knowledgeable plain of existence after death (lie)
c. That what they are experiencing is the truth, to be trusted, and consulted. That they are friendly and here to "help" and "guide." (lie)
d. That you can help others to "cross over" into the "light" (lie)

2) Attaching themselves as tormenting demons or even possessing their host and inviting other demons to do so also.

a. Beyonce admits in a Katie Couric interview that she allows Sasha Fierce to inhabit her body http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9w9K2AiMTI
b. There are cases in the news every day of people committing heinous crimes, then awake to being horrified at what they have done. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/horror-movie-suspected-machete-killer-hacks-men-death-article-1.1385276
c. There are cases (on several paranormal shows) where real people in distress contact "paranormal investigators" hoping for help in getting rid of these tormentors but instead they have invited in people who just want some fun documenting anything out of the ordinary. Of course, beings smarter than humans simply out-wait their would-be outers or in some cases, follow the investigators home and torment them.
d. Many people turn to drugs and alcohol to silence "their inner demons."
e. Women who have had abortions turn to drugs and alcohol at a much higher rate http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/shu/shu_01abuseafterabor.htmlcould it be they are turning to the drugs and alcohol to silence demons tormenting them, not just their conscience bothering them? If it's okay, why so much guilt? If they have no guilt, then what is driving them to such self-destructive behavior?

You can see it is much better for the evil angels to remain hidden by allowing the modern myth that they "don't exist" flourish. It's always easier to get away with heinous acts if people look the other way, and boy, do the evil angels know it.

Trapped Spirits and the Loss of Hope

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

“Sir, your blood oxygen level is 74 %, which is very dangerously low…we have to get you to the hospital ASAP!” This was said to me two weeks ago when I visited my doctors office. I was struggling to breathe, and for good reason—I had pneumonia. It was the sickest I have ever been in my entire life, and I could easily have died, especially with my heart problems. I spent several miserable days in the hospital as they fought to control the infection and get oxygen in my system. I was scared, because it was so difficult to breathe and I felt like any second my heart would go into cardiac arrest (I have a pace/defib in my chest).

It was impossible to get comfortable, and as I said, I wrestled with fear—not of death, but the dying process...as well as I did not want to leave my children yet. The potential of death was thrust in my face, like never before. I have a strong assurance of my salvation—not based on my faith, but on the OBJECT of my faith—the Person and work of Jesus Christ. Hence, I do have hope, and it was deeper than any fear that I experienced.

It is impossible to exaggerate how crucial hope is to the biblical message of salvation. Faith, hope, and love…Hope is not to be understood as the word is commonly used today, as wishful thinking. No, biblical hope is certain faith applied to the future. Remember the spiritual “Swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home...”? Certainty!   That is hope. We die in Christ, and then we immediately join Him in heaven. We are to be certain of that, because hope is soaked in the blood of the finished work of Christ.

The question I have is this: how is it possible to live with a solid, soul-comforting hope, if the prospect (no matter how remote) of being trapped here after death is hanging over your head? The notion of trapped spirits vitiates or destroys hope. You can’t have your hope-cake and eat it too. You cannot believe in trapped spirits and (if you are consistent), experience deep hope.

I have stated elsewhere that the notion of trapped spirits is hostile to every major biblical doctrine. If you are a Christian, how can you live with such a monstrosity?  This notion is a hope-robber, and that should raise a red flag. It kills, steals, and destroys hope.

Due to this close run in with death, I have lost patience with those who espouse trapped spirits but do not have the courage to acknowledge what is manifestly clear—we all should live in fear… if we are consistent with basic ghost formation theory. Unless you are excited or turned on about the prospect of being trapped in a paranormal gutter world, then the only logical position is fear, or hope-lessness. Hope—biblical hope—is impossible to enjoy if ghosts are real. It is as simple and profound as that.

One thing I admire about the atheistic, existentialists Camus and Sartre is that they had guts to be consistent. If God is not there, then life is utterly meaningless. Where is the same guts in the paranormal community? When is someone going to say,”Ya know, what we believe undercuts all hope.”? The notion of trapped spirits gets folks all jazzed because it allegedly proves an afterlife. Well, what about that after-life? If there is any element of violence (or whatever) in one’s death, then their entry into heaven will potentially be derailed into an indeterminate amount of time trapped here. That is a high price to pay for allegedly proving the after-life (which it doesn’t).

There is not one scrap of evidence that ghosts exist. NONE. There is a ton of real paranormal activity happening which is being mis-identified as ghostly, but it is demonic. If you will simply take the time to test the spirits you will see that this is factual. Which of you is messing with the spirit world and NOT having problems (like paranormal activity of your own)?

It has been said that one cannot live well until they are certain that they will die well.  That is, hope is needed in order to live with fullness of joy in the present. You may live in happy inconsistency with your beliefs. But if you become consistent, then you should become miserably insecure. Your hope is empty and groundless. If the only way you can live with your beliefs is by “side-stepping” it, then perhaps you should re-consider that belief…seems logical to me. But logic is a rare commodity in the paranormal community, when it comes to examining its core beliefs.

What of the eight year old child who was murdered in Boston? I have nothing but contempt for the notion of trapped spirits, because HE IS A PRIME PROSPECT (according to ghost theory). You say you believe in trapped spirits…you assert with confidence that a violent death is the cause of entrapment…congratulations, you just stripped the child’s parents of hope. Have the damn guts to apply your beliefs consistently. If this were done, then think of the millions of Americans who have died violent deaths through the centuries. The consequences would be unspeakably horrific.

Having almost died myself, I know how crucial hope is. My stay in the hospital would have been unbearably dark if I had harbored the smallest doubt about my soul getting stuck here. I have no patience for the miserable waffling in the paranormal community. Do you believe in ghosts? Then have the courage of your convictions and lament the death of hope. Better yet, repent of your rationalistic/autonomous thinking, and bow before the God of the bible—who will give you true hope.

How Serious is the Belief in Trapped Spirits?

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

My interest in the theological issue of spiritism accelerated like a rocket when I realized the titanic With the American spiritual landscape littered with the rubbish of all manner of crazy ideas and beliefs, it has the dubious distinction of being the arch-heterodox belief of the day…that is my opinion and I am prepared to defend that sentiment.

The first argument is simple but profound: fifty percent of Americans now believe in trapped spirits. HALF—ONE OUT OF EVERY TWO!—OF THE POPULATION HAS EMBRACED THIS ERROR…HIGHER WITH THE YOUNGER CROWD…AND GROWING FAST EVERY DAY.  No need to drone on here, but what other specific belief error comes anywhere near that quantity of people? Number of people affected should certainly be considered when determining if an issue merits being called a crucial issue, should it not?  Spiritism is a crucial issue which must be passionately addressed because more people have embraced this erroneous belief than any other heterodox belief.

Certainly one can believe in ghosts and still be saved, because Scripture clearly teaches justification by faith alone (Rom. 4; 5:1) However, the ability to discern the relative importance of theological/spiritual beliefs is vital for effective Christian life and ministry. The relative importance of certain issues/beliefs can fall within four categories. 1. Absolutes define the core beliefs of the Christian faith…what one must believe to be saved (the belief in absolute truth is a distinct issue); 2. Convictions, while not core beliefs, usually have significant impact on the health and effectiveness of the church and individuals; 3. Opinions, are less clear issues and are usually not worthy of dividing over; 4. Questions are issues which are currently unsettled. These criteria, and the seven below, are designed to help sort through the myriad of issues we face by categorizing them into four distinct levels of seriousness…hope they will help you in the future with thinking through the significance of other issues as well.

Where an issue falls within these categories should be determined by weighing the cumulative force of at least seven considerations: 1. Biblical clarity; 2. Relevance to the character of God; 3. Relevance to the essence of the gospel; 4. Biblical frequency and significance (how often in Scripture it is taught and what weight Scripture places upon it); 5. Effect on other doctrines; 6. Consensus among Christians (past and present); 7. Effect on personal and church life…all the categories should be considered collectively in determining how important an issue is to the Christian faith. The ability to rightly discern the difference between core doctrines and legitimately disputable matters will keep the church from either compromising important truth or needlessly dividing over peripheral issues. (pg. 2502 ESV Study Bible, emp. added)

In a sense, the main goal of my book is to provide the cumulative evidence (mentioned above and other) to argue that the issue of trapped spirits lies within the realm of convictions—see above for distinctiveness of four categories of issues…#2. While a biblically accurate belief regarding spiritism is not a core/absolute issue (not necessary for salvation…belief in the deity of Christ is an example of a belief that is a core issue), it is an exceedingly important conviction or teaching of the bible. Belief in ghosts, and attempting communication with them, can do serious damage to the church and to an individual’s spirituality. I should hasten to add, it IS doing serious damage right now. Let us look at the relative importance the bible gives to this issue, and the ramifications for the spiritual and emotional health of people by looking at these seven points.

1. Biblical clarity—using accepted principles of hermeneutics, Deuteronomy 18:9-14 and Leviticus 20:6-8, 27 are they key texts relative to communication with the dead (this is a distinct issue which is beyond the scope of this newsletter, but I devoted an entire article on this), and they are clear and explicit regarding the exceptional wickedness of spiritism. God as Judge used Israel as executioner of the Canaanites due to the latter’s occult practices which included spiritism. The land had become so defiled by this and other occult practices that it was vomiting them out. As I mentioned, using sound interpretive principles, it is abundantly clear that these texts have priority over all other “ghost” related texts. Then, when we look at these texts, we see that they are transgenerational in their authority. As far as biblical clarity, these texts are as clear as clear can get. There should be no debate if you under Christ’s Lordship. Remember that Jesus Himself quoted from Deut. three times when countering Satan’s climactic temptations in the wilderness.

2. Relevance to the character of God—the notion of ghosts casts a shadow over God’s omnipotence, and goodness (actually ALL the attributes of God are frontally assaulted by this notion)…what kind of God would leave deceased babies here as spirit babies? That “God” would be Satan-like. Spritism implies that the Lord is not sovereign over His creation—a godlette or McGod. “They died so quickly their souls got stuck here.” Are we to believe that manner of death can snatch believers out of God’s hands? God forbid! I could go on and on here…

3. Relevance on the essence of the gospel—the perfection of the Person and work of Christ is seriously undermined and impugned if we believe that some people get trapped when they die. What are we saved from, if death is NOT a doorway to heaven?  A McSalvation at best. While it does not utterly ruin the atonement, as denial of the deity of Christ does, it comes perilously close to it. Was Jesus’s salvation perfectly efficacious or not? Is Jesus the Son of Man, the conquering Warrior over evil and death, or not? Is it good news to believe that God’s blood was shed, only to wake up in the front porch to hell?

4. Frequency and weight—while spiritism is not mentioned often in the bible, where it is mentioned, the utmost weight or gravity is placed upon this issue (see 1 above).

5. Effect on other doctrines—pull out a book on bible doctrine and you will see how EVERY doctrine is undermined by the notion of people getting trapped here. For example, the biblical doctrine of hope is hopelessly destroyed by this belief. Hope is certainty regarding our future glory—how can one enjoy this basic fruit of the atonement when the fearful prospect of possibly being trapped here is hanging over our heads? Hope is not only an important biblical doctrine, but it is also crucial for a healthy emotional state. Another example is the believers union with Christ—we are in Christ, and indissolubly united with the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. We are already in heaven with Jesus, in a very real sense (Col.3:3). Our union with Jesus is unbreakable, and it is the hub from which all other spiritual blessings flow. What does it say about that union, if we can be separated from Christ indefinitely in a paranormal gutter-world…Satan’s home turf? The same corrosive effects occur to many other biblical doctrines. Please check it out for yourself….it may cast a whole new light on this discussion.

6. The consensus of Christians (past and present)—from the early church fathers who railed against the same pagan Gnosticism as we do today, up until today, the monolithic consensus of the doctors of the church has been that death ushers everyone immediately into their eternal destiny. I do not know of a single judicious theologian, in 2,000 years of church history, who has believed in ghosts—death has always been seen as certain entry into either eternal life or eternal death. Are we so foolish to ignore their collective wisdom?

7. Effect on personal and church life—how can you live with joy inexpressible when you are speaking to demons, and are being demonically oppressed?  Because the spirit realm is the God ordained temporary home of most of the fallen angels (rest already in hell), then when people summon spirits they immediately find themselves playing in Satan’s sandbox…and they are trespassing, which gives the demonic legal right to attach and attack. Since the notion of ghosts is so hostile to all that we call holy, then belief/speaking to the dead seriously undermines the stability of a Christian’s spiritual foundation—like a three legged table, it would not take much a “bump” to cause them to crash. As I mentioned, this belief is extremely corrosive to all it comes in contact with—other orthodox beliefs held side-by-side with it, will tend to be affected by it, and not vice versa. Kind of like when a Christian marries a non-Christian, the latter tends to pull the Christian down…having a corrosive effect on their spirituality.

History and Responding to the Paranormal

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

What can the past teach us about how to respond to the paranormal? Recently two events occurred that thrust that question into prominence. The two events were: the fiftieth anniversary of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech and September 11.They may seem unrelated, but let me explain.

King's speech is a painful reminder of past racism; thankfully, I think we have made great strides. I have mentioned before that I had the honor of being introduced to the singular teaching of Dr. Francis Schaeffer...a man who had an uncanny ability to perceive trends in culture, critique them biblically, and show how the Lordship of Christ extends to all aspects of human culture.

He mentioned that our culture had a Christian ethos 100 years ago, but (and this is my main point)there were certainly serious inconsistencies. For example, he noted that we had done a very poor job when it came to race (with some notable exceptions) He further stated that each generation was responsible for applying the changeless gospel to the needs of their own generation. For 35  years since I first heard that assessment and challenge, I was 'haunted'  about WHAT ISSUE WAS MY GENERATION OF CHRISTIANS CULPABLY BLIND TO? Was there a "racism" equivalent in our culture that our kids would rise up and call us..uuhh, "blind and obtuse about"?Or,at the very least inconsistent...

I have the same feeling today as I did nearly 40 years ago--how could so many godly Christians be silent regarding an issue that was so  obviously grievously wrong? We are all descended from Adam...how could Christians support institutionalized hatred? (that is precisely what it was) So,I kept asking myself and praying: "Lord, please show me if we have a grievous blind spot in my generation." I humbly assert that I believe God answered my prayer.

In 2009 I was as blind as a bat to the raging paranormal inferno, but one fateful Wednesday night I watched an episode of "Ghost Hunters." I almost fell off the couch as I realized two things-I just saw real supernatural, demonic activity, and I had an unsettling feeling that I had been culpably ignorant of a juggernaut that was changing the spiritual landscape of America...indeed the world.Instantly, I felt "called" to research this phenomenon for the glory of our Triune God.

It did not take long for me to realize that the paranormal craze was, in fact, perhaps the most serious blind spot in the Christian community today. My generation was just as guilty of collectively dismissing a hugely significant issue. You will please forgive me if I say that: I have a dream...that the pastors in America would awaken from their lethal slumber and begin equipping their sheep to discern supernatural evil.

I will be more brief with 9/11. It is the anniversary of terrorist attacks on our soil--The World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the Pan Am flight.(the following quote was thought to be from the Reformer, Martin Luther, but apparently there is some doubt. Regardless, I quote it with brief comment).

"If I profess with loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is proved and to be steady on all the battle front besides, is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."

If this quote expresses biblical truth (and I believe it does), then the overwhelming majority of bible preachers are not confessing Christ, and are flinching and fleeing. It hurts to write that, but when was the last time you heard a sermon on "What does the Bible say about Ghosts"? What other issue has over 50% of US adults in its grips?

I was a pastor for 15 years, so I know the diverse hats they wear and the many stressors. But in preaching class in seminary, we were taught two main things-prayerfully do the hard work of understanding the Holy Spirit's intent for that text (it's meaning, AND prayerfully and sensitively apply the text to the significant issues we face, as individuals and as a society. Simple...one-two approach to preaching, but the application aspect has been collectively horrendous.

The worst spiritual terrorist attack in our nations history is being ignored or dismissed as so much rubbish (with some notable exceptions). God have mercy on our country...especially our pastors.

To round out my reference to 9/11 let me mention this. Historically, there have three philosophical tests for truth--the correspondence theory (does the belief correspond to reality?); the coherence theory of truth (is the belief or worldview internally consistent?); and the existential test for truth (can the person live with his beliefs?)

I want to apply the existential theory to the notion of ghosts. The tragedy of 9/11 is precisely the kind of deaths that the paranormal community predicts will cause souls to be trapped...(sudden, traumatic deaths...leaving unfinished business). According to the "death criteria" of the paranormal community, most of those who died on 9/11 may well be stuck here."That is a cruel, low blow Hunnemann...how dare you!" On the contrary, 9/11 reminds us that it is impossible to live consistently with your beliefs regarding ghost formation. It is your belief in trapped spirits which is cruel...I am simply extending it out consistently to its logical conclusion. I must stop there for now, but this needs to be spelled out over and over, to break through the fog of fascination with ghosts.

Do You Believe in Angels?

By Lisa Grace

Recently I was asked in an interview if I believe in angels or the supernatural as the way it appears in my fiction books.

Yes, I believe in angels. Have I knowingly seen any? No.

However, I have met some disturbed people that I believe are possessed, and no, the mental health counseling and medication did not help them.

Do I believe events could happen the way they do in my books? Yes and no. It’s a work of fiction and as such, many incidences are over the top. I believe in today’s modern world the supernatural one does prefer to remain hidden. It’s easier to operate when people don’t believe it exists. I believe all “ghosts” are demonic manifestations leading people away from truth.

If a being, (no matter how beautiful as Satan can appear as an angel of light) contradicts the Holy Scriptures, it is evil and sent to lull people into believing a false view of the afterlife to their detriment. The devil is recruiting for his army through deception.

Your best defense? Know your scriptures. Understand the supernatural world and its goals. Put on the armor of Christ and be prepared for spiritual warfare.

NOTE: This is a rerun blog from Lisa Grace as she is currently on vacation.

The Creeping Darkness

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

Ever heard of the "creeping darkness"? Or maybe I should ask: have you ever seen it? In this article I want to discuss some of the ways that demons appear. We are becoming so accustomed to the spiraling paranormal activity that I fear that some are becoming jaded...others have lived so long with "weirdness" that they do not realize what they are dealing with...still others of you are experiencing one/more of these but are uncertain as to what it is...and finally, some are even entertained by the antics of the "little girl".I am trying to heed the apostles warning to not be ignorant of Satan's schemes. There is tremendous diversity to demonic activity--from the seeming hilarious to the horrid--but they all emanate from pure evil. All of these I have some form of experience with--direct or indirect. I am intentionally focusing on some lesser known phenomena...some of which are very easy to brush off (sometimes literally) Remember that just because something CAN be explained naturally, does not necessarily mean it was caused naturally...sometimes we get foolish with debunking theories. On other hand, care must be taken with some of these phenomena to make sure that they were not caused naturally. Avoid both extremes--hyper skepticism and hyper-supernaturalism.

1. The Creeping Darkness is when a person is perhaps laying in bed and their eyes have become adjusted to ambient light. Suddenly, off in a corner, the darkness becomes even darker. A dark cloud... it may appear to be "pixelating" in the center...it creeps closer and closer-- the room becomes totally dark..Sometimes it will evolve into a shadow figure (humanoid shape) and other times it just slides through as a cloud...sometimes smaller and swirling. Usually it frightens the person terribly...I have not heard this said before, but it is my opinion that this is an intentional demonic parody of the cloud of glorious LIGHT surrounding the Lord (recall Mt of Transfiguration) Much demonic activity is a darkened mirror image of God's reality.

2. Floating faces -- could be very human like or monstrous...often composite--that is, a figure shaped like two or more creatures. Sometimes they float in mid air and other times appear on TV screen. I have had numerous cases with this and seen pictures of incredible weirdness (eg 3 ft "clown" kneeling on sofa with body suit on).

3. Indoor rain is when it rains inside the house! Using pre-existent matter, somehow demons are able to cause drops of rain-like substance to fall. I have a friend who had these drops fall on them while in bed. Sadly, they just attributed it to "paranormal activity" and is unfazed by it.

4. Hooded figures -- these are often seen at the foot or side of bed. There is no such thing as a real GRIM REAPER....God is in control of our lives and deaths (Psalm 139, etc) Demons appear in a way to bring about desired affect...this figure seems to cause considerable fear due to superstition of it being harbinger of gloom, doom, and possibly death.

5. Cobweb effect -- this occurs when there is no spider-web but one can feel on face/hair what clearly feels like a spider web--which it is not, but it has certain creepy effect, especially when walking about in the dark!

6. Bee sting -- or so it seems...a sudden stinging on one's arm. Not a scratch but a "sting".

7. Breezes -- if there is no way to naturally explain it,then it is important that you realize that demons can cause the sensation of a breeze. A cold spot is much more common phenomenon.I seriously doubt this is just the inadvertent effect of a demon moving close to you. Evidently, it is intentional...messing with you.

8. Doppelganger -- refers to seeing your own ghost, which is thought by some to be harbinger of doom. In "quantum jumping" it is one of an infinite number of each of us, that we access to siphon their energy.

9. Light bulb effect -- inside or outside, a sudden flash of bright light...gone instant later. Other light anomalies can occur. (This happened to me a week ago...outside).

10. Sleep paralysis -- This happens fairly often. Scientists say this can be explained, but not all cases can be. Cannot move or speak...frightening. Once, I was pinned in chair and demon cussed me in audible voice...not pleasant!

11. Vivid nightmares/dreams--this MAY be indicator of demonic presence or influence. We should always pray against this at night. From my experience, vivid nightmares often occur at beginning of infestation, and other phenomena start occurring later.

12. Appearance of ghost of pet animals--given our love for our pets, this is cruelly effective means of demons gaining acceptance and foothold. I had one case with appearing/disappearing demonic cat.

13. Seeing the # 11 repeatedly ... apparently a worldwide phenomenon. Lots of alleged explanations, none of which are exceptionally persuasive. Historically, the Lord has never signaled any of His activity via numerology. That is occultic, and likely demonic if occurrences are beyond law of averages. Also, any activity (e.g. bangs) occur in three's, then that may be demonic--evidently, a mockery of Trinity.

14. Hearing conversations or whistling--usually voices just out of range to understand words.

I want you to remember this and burn it into your psyche--assume that ALL paranormal activity is demonic...angels do not play games with us--they are our servants (Heb. 1:14).

So, what should you do if one or more of these start occurring (or have been for quite a while)? Please do not do nothing...do not start taking pictures...do not attempt communication...SEEK HELP!! (you can contact me by replying to this).

Depending upon what is occurring, a direct, verbal rebuke in the name of Jesus is often more effective than praying TO God. For me, I do both

Some people I have helped with long term exposure to seemingly innocuous spirits, had experienced premature stroking, brain tumors, heart attacks, and death. I beg of you to see this activity for what it really is--the presence of unspeakable evil.

Sufficiency of the Bible

By Reverend Mark Hunnemann

We have come to the end of our series on the attributes of the Word of God. If we are living in the last times then this is especially indispensable information to grasp. The last is also, in a sense, the most important--the sufficiency of Scripture. Or, Sola Scriptura as the reformers called it. We may define it thus: Scripture contains all the divine words needed for any and all aspects of human life. Here is the Westminster Confession formulation. (this is a wonderful teaching tool, but it is not infallible)

The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for His own glory, man's salvation, faith and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men. Nevertheless, we acknowledge the inward illumination of the Spirit of God to be necessary for the saving understanding of such things as are revealed in the Word: and that there are some circumstances concerning the worship of God, and government of the church, common to human actions and societies, which are to be ordered by the light of nature, and Christian prudence, according to the general rules of the Word, which are always to be observed." (WCF 1.6)  I will look at a few of these concepts.

Christians sometimes say the bible is sufficient for theology and spiritual matters but not for auto repair, scuba diving, zoology, or dentistry. Certainly the bible has more specific information relevant to theology than to auto mechanics, but that is not what we mean by sufficiency. In this context sufficiency is not sufficiency of specific information but sufficiency of divine words. Scripture has divine words for every aspect of human life. It contains all the divine words that the plumber needs--or scientist and modern ethicist-- and all the divine words that the theologian or preacher needs. So it is just as sufficient for plumbing as it is for theology! And we shall spend extra time showing how sufficient the bible is regarding paranormal issues.

Notice that the WCF states that the sufficient content of  the bible includes not only its explicit teaching, but what also may be properly logically deduced from it. Logic is a hermeneutical (interpretation) tool...a tool for bringing out meaning that is already there in the text.

Of course the sufficiency of Scripture means that nothing is to be added or subtracted to the bible--we do not need any more divine words than those in the bible. This does not forbid seeking information from other sources--our job requires it...and life in general. The last section of the WCF mentions the use of natural revelation--even regarding some issues in the church dealing with worship and government (Roberts' Rules...uugh!!)  Jesus had harsh words for the religious folks who elevated their traditions to the status of divine words.(Mark 7:8) The theological heritage I hold dear (Presbyterian/Reformed) has some traditions regarding worship which I know to be unbiblical...that is why we must be ever reforming!

2 Tim. 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." "(see Rom.15:4   "Every" refers to sufficiency.

Scripture is clear enough to make us responsible for carrying out our present responsibilities to God. Like clarity, sufficiency is an ethical doctrine. It takes away excuses for disobedience. When we violate God's commandments, we cannot claim that they were unclear, or that they were insufficient. (John Frame--The Doctrine of the Word of God...pg 226)

Here is a crucial text for applying across the situational board...1 Cor. 10:31  "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."  And Col. 3:23 "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men."

The other day I was outside cutting the lawn, and I asked myself how the sufficiency of Scripture applied to that activity?I smiled as I remembered 1 Cor. 10:31...it is interesting how practical the results can be when you earnestly attempt to cut the grass to God's glory!  You see, this verse is sufficient regarding the divine words that I needed. Of course, additional information is needed for whatever the vocation, but the divine words in the bible are sufficient! If you are a plumber (fill in the blank) and read the bible everyday, then the fresh illumination of the Holy Spirit will astound you with how relevant the bible is on a daily basis.

There are principles in Scripture which apply to EVERYTHING...including thorny modern ethical issues . There is sufficient divine words to render inexcusable the reprehensible wickedness of abortion. That is THE most significant social/moral issue in our country. God is merciful and forgiving to any of you affected..okay? If He has forgiven you, then that should be sufficient--forgive yourself and move on.

The cultural mandate in Gen. 1:28 implies the acquisition of information gleaned from general revelation for your job...including our studies at school and work. But God's divine words in the bible are sufficient for you.Let me gently urge you to apply throughout your day today just 1 Cor.10:31 and see what happens!

This is a large subject but I need to apply this to our paranormal context.Though Scripture is sufficient regarding every area of human life, it has MORE divine words if the issue is critical. For example, the bible is filled with texts regarding how to be saved..

The paranormal--from what we have learned, the bible contains what God considers sufficient information.

When I began research for my book back in 2009, I thought that I might write a short pamphlet on "what the bible says about who ghosts really are". Man, was I mistaken! What struck me early on was how massive and wide-ranging the ramifications were for believing that humans could get trapped here after death. It has a deleterious effect on EVERY major doctrine in the bible...not to mention the catastrophically futile attempt to fit the notion of ghosts within a biblical worldview.

Take Deuteronomy 18:9-22...that one text SHOULD be sufficient for Christians who are  curious, confused, or attempting communication with alleged dead people. In that text we are presented with a clear choice--glorifying God by listening/obeying God's clear and sufficient revelation as revealed by His prophets--or glorifying self (and grieving the Holy Spirit as well as coming under divine discipline...and demonic assault on you and your loved ones) by seeking supernatural information from God's hated enemies--demons. God or demons--which do you want to communicate with?

It will revolutionize how investigations are done, but Christians must not solicit EVP's...NEVER!

As we end this series, I remind you that Scripture which is not applied is contrary to what the whole purpose of Scripture is--APPLICATION!  Bowing before the sufficiency of Holy Scripture is bowing before the Lordship of Christ. Let us resolve to live Sola Scriptura!

Issue 112 – Para-Celebrity Mayhem!

By Kirby Robinson

We at the EYE ON THE PARANORMAL ask everyone to take a moment to say a prayer for all those killed and injured from the Boston bombing. We should ask God that swift justice be brought against such a killer/s, whether they are domestic or international terrorists.

Has “Haunted Collector” Jumped the Shark?

It is with great sadness that we report that the April 24th episode of Haunted Collector will feature Chip Coffey as a guest star. We have to ask why? John Zaffis is respected by many in the paranormal field and has had a successful career. Why risk that standing by featuring a so-called psychic medium that has exploited the 9/11 events for profit?  Chip appeared on the now debunked Paranormal State. He was a producer on Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal, a series that exploited children and left some without any help once the cameras stopped rolling. In 2012, Chip released a book filled with unproven claims. Last month he attempted to get the public to fund his most recent project to the tune of $17,000. However, he fell short by more than $15,000. Is Chip’s guest shot on Haunted Collector a production assistant’s idea? Did Chip beg for this appearance? Or has John and his show jumped the shark and joined the rest of the fake paranormal programs out there in TV-land?

The Eye will be tuned in next week to debunk this latest edition to demise of paranormal credibility.

Chip Coffey Peddles His Wares While Boston Mourns

The worship of the almighty dollar and pursuit of fame could take a back seat to the suffering of those in Boston at this time. But that’s not happening in Chip’s world. Less than 24 hours after the Boston Bombing, ol Chip is worried about making money and keeping the fame candle from going out.

On a lighter note, next week, on Wednesday, April 24 at 9 PM ET (check your local listings), I will be making a guest appearance on SyFy's "Haunted Collector"! The episode is entitled "Ghost Storm."

Why doesn’t Chip not jump on a plane, fly to Boston, and join the FBI in bringing justice to this matter? He claims to have all these powers--why not use them for good?

Shilling continued all day…

Due to demand, we opened up more general admission tickets to my Coffey Talk events in Edmonton, Saskatoon & Ottawa!www.chipcoffeytour.com

Not true, as tickets aren’t selling well at all.

Followed by:

YOU do not want to miss this chance to investigate with your favorite psychic medium Chip Coffey and Lead Investigator from Fact or Faked Ben Hansen!! Meet and Greet/Lectures/Investigation This weekend is packed full of FUN and HISTORY!!! www.3sisterspro.com

Here comes more…

By this time tomorrow, if all goes as planned, I will be in Canada for my tour! www.chipcoffeytour.com

Going by the lack of ticket sales it seems that Chip Coffey’s novelty has worn away.

Christian Rapper Shai Linne Blasts FAL$E TEACHER$

A young rapper has joined in the fight against the number one growing false religion in the world: Selfism. Selfism means that the person is greater than all--even God. Along with the new ageism that is out there, the prosperity gospel [borrowed from the new age], is one of the foundations of it. Shai Linne joins others like me in warning of the dangers of it. Make sure you watch this video and this version includes the lyrics.

New Age Demon Raises Its Head
We get comments that are sometimes supportive, some come from our haters, and sometimes that demon of old who brought Babylon to existences comes around and spreads its lies.

The following comment was left on the blog, The Day the Exorcism Side Show Came to Town (Part 1). Here is the entire comment, and we will then break it down:

"I came here after receiving an E-Mail as I get occassionally and I went back to read the written article which says Demons, Evil Spirits and etc are not of the paranormal but theological.
I would like for you to tell us what you think the paranormal is?
Isn't the Paranormal Shows based on Ghosts, Demons, Orbs and spirit voices and the like?

You cannot seperate the paranormal from religion because the spirits of the dead, good and evil reside above earth and at some point in time those evil mean spirits, and or so called angels are all the spirits of humans who once lived on earth and after death their spirit leaves their body and comes back as angels and or demons and or devils depending on their mood and the message they want to send to humans to help them better understand the world of life after death where we all go after our life here on earth is finished.

There is a lot of confusion and misconseptions being beddled out in the blogosphere and I and my guides both good and not so good are here to better educate people so one day when its their time to go upward they won't be so confused as some of my relatives and acquaintances were when they landed in the great beyond."

BREAKDOWN

I came here after receiving an E-Mail as I get occassionally and I went back to read the written article which says Demons, Evil Spirits and etc are not of the paranormal but theological.

I have dealt with this demon in the past. After an exchange of emails, which ended with me telling it to “get behind me Satan,” it departed but decided to return.

Very few people in the paranormal field are trained to deal with the demonic/evil spirits because these matters originate in the word of God. To address such issues we have to turn to His Word.

I would like for you to tell us what you think the paranormal is?

Are you talking about paranormal reality TV? If so, these shows are a big joke. Anyone that thinks they are real is even a bigger joke. Paranormal shows have removed any credibility whatsoever.

As to the overall term PARANORMAL, here is a general definition:

Demons, evil spirits, etc. exist. The Bible and other religious texts share information to teach us who they are, what they are, where they came from, and how to deal with them.

Isn't the Paranormal Shows based on Ghosts, Demons, Orbs and spirit voices and the like?

None of the shows has ever had a ghost, demon, or evil spirit featured on it that was real. As to orbs they are specks of dust, they aren’t ghosts.

The above is an example of what a demon feeds into the mind of one they can control. Consult your Bible and you’ll learn that the angels/demons/devils according to their mood concept is entirely false.

There is a lot of confusion and misconseptions being beddled out in the blogosphere and I and my guides both good and not so good are here to better educate people so one day when its their time to go upward they won't be so confused as some of my relatives and acquaintances were when they landed in the great beyond

Again, more demonic lies. The commenter, being a human being, claims to have the ability to see on their own without the help of God and His Word.

Next week – Find out who the L. Ron Hubbard of the paranormal field is.
